How do I add a new album to my library?

Music Tracker gives you different ways to add albums. You can choose the option that works best depending on what you have in front of you.

1. Search Online

  • Tap the + → Search Online.
  • Type the album title.
  • Tap the result you want, review the details, and save.

2. Search Online by Artist

  • Tap + → Search Online by Artist.
  • Enter the artist name to see all available albums.
  • Pick the album you want and add it to your library.

3. Search barcode (camera)

  • Tap + → Search barcode (camera).
  • Point your device’s camera at the album’s barcode (UPC/EAN).
  • Music Tracker will recognize the code and suggest the exact album.

4. Search barcode (reader)

  • If you have a Bluetooth barcode scanner connected, tap + → Search barcode (reader).
  • Scan the barcode directly with the reader.
  • The app will match it and show you the right album.

5. Search with Shazam

  • Tap + → Search with Shazam.
  • Play the track so Shazam can recognize it.
  • Once detected, you’ll see the related album and can add it right away.

6. Manually Insert

  • If the album isn’t available online, tap + → Manually Insert.
  • Fill in at least the TitleArtistYear and other useful info.
  • Later you can enrich the album with Spaces, Tags, notes, and ratings.

Tips for accurate results

  • Barcode searches are the fastest and most precise if you have the album physically.
  • Use Search Online by Artist when you want to explore a full discography.
  • When adding special editions, use Tags or Notes like Deluxe Edition or First Pressing.
  • Organize new albums immediately into Spaces (e.g., Vinyl, CD, Digital) and Tags (e.g., Jazz, 90s, Gift idea) so they’re easy to find later.
