A few users have recently experienced an error when trying to add new albums. This is often linked to issues with the local database or, in some cases, to running beta versions of iOS that introduce unexpected bugs.
Step 1. Make a backup first
Before you try any fix, it’s very important to save all your backups:
- Open Settings → Backup & Restore.
- You’ll see a list of automatic and manual backups.
- Long-press each one and export it (save it to the Files app, AirDrop it, or email it to yourself).
- This way, even if something goes wrong, you’ll have every version of your library safe outside the app.
⚠️ Important: before doing anything, perform this operation.
Step 2. Reinstall the app
- Delete Music Tracker from your device. On macOS you can use an app like AppCleaner to perform this operation.
- Reinstall it from the App Store.
- Open the app and give iCloud a moment to download your library.
- If your library does not appear, start restoring the backups you exported in Step 1. Begin with the most recent backup.
- If you notice something missing (for example, artists not showing correctly), try restoring the next backup in order, moving from the most recent to the older ones, until your library is complete.
If you use the app on Mac, you can simply delete all the files in this folder:
/Users/USERNAME/Library/Group Containers/group.com.simonemontalto.musictracker.coredata
You can reach this folder in this way: open Finder, then press and hold the Option key while selecting Go from the menu bar, then click on Library. Then open the folder Group Containers -> group.com.simonemontalto.musictracker.coredata.
Delete all the files in this folder, then open the app and wait the end of the sync.
Step 3. If the problem persists
- If you’re running a beta version of iOS, this may be the cause. New iOS betas sometimes change how the database works, and the app may show errors until it’s updated.
- Try to replicate the error after reinstalling. If it still happens, please send us:
- The backup file you created.
- A description of what triggers the error (for example: “Search → Add album → tap +”).
This helps us reproduce the issue and prepare a fix.
Good to know
- Your data is never lost as long as you keep backups.
- If you only use iCloud sync without backups, we strongly recommend exporting one as described above, so you always have a safe copy of your library.
