Yes! Music Tracker automatically keeps your data safe by creating daily backups inside the app. You also have full control to make manual backups whenever you want.
Automatic backups
- Every day, Music Tracker saves a snapshot of your entire library.
- These backups are stored locally in the app and can be restored at any time.
- If you ever lose data or something goes wrong, you can roll back to a previous day.
Manual backups
You can create a backup on demand whenever you feel it’s important (for example, before reinstalling the app or switching devices).
- Open Settings → Backup & Restore.
- Tap Create new backup.
- Long-press the backup if you want to export it (e.g. save to the Files app, send it to another device, or email it to yourself).
Restoring a backup
- Go to Settings → Backup & Restore.
- Choose the backup you want.
- Tap Restore and your library will be rolled back to that version.
Why backups matter
- CSV export is available too, but it does not include 100% of your data (for example, it misses tags, notes, and some advanced details). Only a backup contains your full database exactly as it is in the app.
- Exported backups are useful if you want to migrate your library to another device without depending on iCloud sync.
Best practices
- Keep at least one exported backup stored safely outside the app (in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or your email).
- Create a manual backup before doing big imports or changes to your collection.
- If you use multiple devices, it’s smart to keep a backup handy in case iCloud ever gets stuck.
